Our Story
One recipe. Three generations.
From a small Cook Island kitchen to Brisbane North, South Brisbane and the Gold Coast — 1950 Donuts is a family story told in dough, glaze and island warmth.
Mas and his family — the heart behind every batch.
The Beginning
A recipe written in coconut oil and patience.
The 1950 Donuts recipe began with Mas's family on the Cook Islands — a simple dough rested overnight, fried in small batches, then glazed while still warm. It was never written down exactly; it was shown, shared and tasted across generations.
When Mas brought that recipe to Australia, he carried more than ingredients. He brought the rhythm of island mornings, the sound of dough hitting hot oil, and the belief that a good donut should feel like a welcome.
Today, 1950 Donuts is still a family operation. From our HQ in Redcliffe, North Brisbane, we hand-finish every batch for events, markets and deliveries across Brisbane North, South Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Our Values
Made the slow way, because it tastes better.
Fresh Daily
We fry in small batches, never reheat from frozen. Every donut is made the day it is served.
Island Glazes
Our glazes draw on tropical flavours — coconut, passionfruit, caramel and citrus — balanced, not overpowering.
Family First
From recipe to delivery, the family is hands-on. That care is the ingredient you cannot fake.
